The Minimalist V2 is redesigned to make simple even more functional.

We heard you. We took the simple, clean design of the Minimalist, and using customer feedback, made it even better. The Minimalist V2 still has the perfect amount of space for all your gear and a lightweight suspension that adds just enough support but now with larger, more secure stash pockets. Even the lettering took on a new modern, subtle look. Thanks for the help making the thru-hikers dream backpack even better.

Size Guide

Overview

Despite being called the Minimalist, this pack provides all the comforts of much heavier packs. It comes with a removable Delrin Hoop Stay Frame and hip belt for maximum load days. And because every long-distance hiker is different, it has a lot of configurations to suit your specific comforts and offers a remarkable amount of extra storage space.

The main compartment is 40L with a 9L extension collar. It incorporates a top lid and has two additional large external gusseted pockets as well as a front stasher pocket with a pleated gusset. The top lid can be used to secure larger bear canisters too large to fit in the main compartment.

The exterior pockets add a lot of quick access storage solutions. And all the external pockets have been reconstructed for the V2, featuring larger, more secure designs.

  • Hip belt pockets are cavernous.
  • Both harness styles offer additional pockets for electronics, snacks, or other necessities.
  • 2 large asymmetric side pockets. The shorter right pocket is great for holding water bottles. The taller left pocket is perfect for carrying an ultralight tarp, tent, or tall hydration bladder.
  • Large rear shove-it sleeve for quick access to gear and rainwear.

The Minimalist V2 offers several adjustable straps and tensioners to ensure a stable, comfortable fit. The Delrin Hoop Frame is designed to shift load bearing to the hip belt, reducing the strain on your shoulders and upper body.

The Minimalist V2 comes in the standard Robic™ nylon or our new VX21 fabric. VX21 is a robust fabric by Dimension Polyant. It is made using 3 layers of 210 denier fabric making it not only waterproof but very abrasion-resistant. While VX21 is waterproof the packs themselves are not water tight. We recommend using a 50L Pack Liner.

FRAME CONFIGURATION

The Minimalist comes with a removable Delrin Hoop Stay Frame. The ends of the hoop rest on the base of the hip belt, transferring the weight to the hip belt. This design feature makes carrying heavy loads more comfortable and reduces pack sag.

Using the Delrin Hoop Stay and hip belt together increases your load carrying capacity by approximately 10 lbs*.

*We recommend a base weight of 12lbs or less even when increasing load weight and using the Delrin Hoop Stay and hip belt.

FRAME-LESS CONFIGURATION

The Minimalist is the only ultralight, frame-less pack on the market with an adjustable torso length. This allows the Minimalist to provide unbridled comfort.

When configured as frame-less, the highest recommended base weight is 8lbs / 3.5k and maximum weight not exceeding 25lbs / 11k.

HARNESS OPTIONS

Vest Harness

Six Moon Designs’ unique vest harness supports a 6-point connection between the pack and your body. There are several advantages to this system:

1. It fully locks the pack to your body, eliminating sway or bouncing when you walk or run.

2. Instead of all of the weight of the pack resting on your shoulders and hips, the vest harness transfers some of that weight to your core. This reduces and eliminates sores from developing on the shoulders and hips.

3. The vest harness comes with extra pockets, providing additional quick access storage options.

Vest Harness Health Benefits

Because the vest harness spreads the load-bearing to the core, most hikers find it reduces back pain.

Founder Ron Moak discovered this first hand. After a bout with cancer, Moak found that he could only handle a couple of hours of hiking before needing to stop due to severe back pain. A vest harness redistributed the weight he was carrying on his shoulders and hips to his core, allowing him to walk more upright. This additional support allowed him to hike longer distances with less pain.

That’s why the first pack he designed incorporated the vest harness.

If you’ve found yourself unable to backpack as easily and as long as you once did, you may want to seriously consider the vest harness. We make no claims that the vest harness is a miracle cure, but it did help Moak get back to really enjoying backpacking again. And we hope it might help you, too.

Standard Shoulder Straps

There are several reasons you might choose a Standard Should Strap Harness:

1. If you’re used to carrying a traditional backpacking pack and aren’t from the running world, you will probably be comfortable with standard shoulder straps.

2. If you are a full-chested woman or broad-chested man, you might find the vest harness constricting. In this case, the S-Curve shoulder straps could provide a better hiking experience.

3. The standard shoulder straps are easier to slip out of if you want to take an extended break without the weight of your pack.

An Inspiration
After watching a video by one of my favorite youtubers discussing comics and this book, I had to buy it. I have always loved Kate Kane since started Batwoman 52 about a year ago, and was very excited to purchase this graphic novel. My expectations were very high, yet this book still managed to exceed them! Williams and Rucka are both extremely talented gentlemen. As the introduction points out, they really do convince you that these characters are real. You almost can't believe Kate isn't an actual human being, and you can really imagine meeting her in real life. I also was very (if not more) impressed with the artwork. The compositions are simply stunning, and completely original. I absolutely love how the scenes with Kate as Batwoman are illustrated with lots of detail and fluidity. It really has an eery watercolor effect, with great linework and color. This completely contrasts the scenes where Kate is either out on the town or in her home. Much more graphic, but still delightful. The costumes in this series are also amazing. Both Kate and her foe have some stunning outfits, and are very unique. Since I had already read Batwoman 52, I knew how everything that was going to go down. A lot of this book was her origin and was very interesting. And although I already knew what was going to happen, it still managed to make me cry. Don't think it won't be exciting or interesting just because you already know her origin, Williams and Rucka really pull you in and keep it very exciting. Kate Kane is definitely my comic book hero, and is truly an inspiration. If you are just getting into Batwoman or comics, this is a great place to start. Of course you may be disappointed when no other series can compare! What a shame Batwoman 52 is about to come to an end, this really is as good as it gets people, and I am very sad to see such a creative and talented team leave, but I do understand completely. I highly recommend this book to Kate Kane, DC and comic book fans everywhere! Enjoy!

Renews faith in comics
Decided to dive into the DC Comics New 52 and in preparation for Batwoman #1, I decided to pick up this book as a recommendation to getting the full story on this relatively new character to the DC world. This comic renewed my faith in comic books as both great stories and great pieces of art! Greg Rucka crafts a great story here but the artist JH Williams III presents it to you. You get to know this character here in more ways than just a quick reference. Batwoman is given the desire to serve her fellow man as her motivation. She is given the demographic of a Jewish lesbian soldier with a solid family background which is something we don't see much in our universe of white dominated or scarred superheroes. Sure she lost her mother and twin sister as at a young age, but she isn't damaged here. She rises above and serves only to be disappointed by trust issues in her life. But Rucka and Williams make her a bold woman who just keeps going like a shark, surviving because its her instinct and not her desire to escape something. This is the 21st Century woman superhero. Panels of note for me were: 1) how they presented the apartment Batwoman's alter ego lived in, 2) a beautiful full page spread showing the fight on the plane between Batwoman and Alice, 3) a transition panel where Batwoman and Alice are shown on the phone to each other, 4) a touching series where Batwoman as a child and her twin sister realize they are moving because of military orders and their life will change and they swear to always be there for each other. If you want to take a chance on the DC Comics reboot, take a chance on Batwoman #1 and get this one to bring you up to speed, you won't be sorry. A great twist for any new reader wanting to test the graphic novel/comic book scene.

Beautiful Art, Compelling Story
The birth of Kate Kane as Batwoman is one of my favorite graphic novels in my collection. I already owned the digital edition on my iPad, but the art by J.H. Williams was just too amazing not to see in print. This artist knows how to draw beautifully artistic pages; right down to the panels themselves. I also love the style shift from nighttime Batwoman to daytime Kate Kane. The story is really great, especially the ending of Elegy! I also really loved the back stories that follow, showing the history of Kate Kane and how she became the Batwoman. Its also good to know that the New 52 timeline in DC didn't delete all this continuity. Batwoman isn't another Batman flunkie. She's a strong woman and an amazing character that Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams really bring to life in this book.

Better Than Batman!
This is by far one of the best Batman titles that doesn't include Batman as the title character. I'm not much of a reader of Batman, but I have been very interested in Batwoman since I read the 52 series back in 2006. The story line itself is much better then when 52 presented her for the first time. I really like how Rucka focused more on her homosexuality and making her an identical twin too (since I'm a twin myself). However, what blew me away the most was the artwork. Williams really focuses on covering the entire page with art and color; giving you the full comic book art experience. I have seen and very much liked his work in Promethea and think this is just as good. Batwoman is now my second favorite super heroine after Wonder Woman of course.
